Regional women’s commission meeting was held on 9th of February, 2020 at BRBC Secretariat, Cathedral of the Most Holy Rosary, Brabourne Road, Kolkata.
The meeting started with the opening prayers by the Chairperson of the Women’s commission Rt. Rev. Cyprian Monis, bishop of Asansol at 9.45 am. Thereafter, the regional secretary, Ms. Sandhya Vincent welcomed the Chairperson as well as all the other 36 members from the Region of Bengal. Ms. Rose Toppo, the diocesan secretary of Asansol Women’s Commission presented the report of the previous meeting.
The Theme chosen for the meeting was: “Accompanying Young Minds in Traversing the World of Ideologies”. Bishop Cyprian Monis presented the keynote address focusing on forgiveness in the family, role of family in the Church and accompaniment and guidance of Parents towards their children as friends.
The resource team for the meeting was JTM India (John Paul II Theology of the Body Messengers) youth team who commit themselves in promoting the teachings of St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body under the leadership of Archbishop Thomas D’Souza. They highlighted upon “The beauty of creation reflects the infinite beauty of the creator”. They shared their joys and challenges that they face while ministering the young as they themselves are young. The theme and the presentation of the theme by youngsters created impact on the participants as many of them are mothers, who have teenage children.
The group discussion was organised to interiorize the input session. Bishop Cyprian Monis guided the discussion and shared his thoughts on the challenges faced by the youth such as diminishing of family values, respect for life, false projection of sex and unemployment. The meeting ended with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Bishop Cyprian Monis and concelebrated by the Deputy Secretary of BRBC, Fr. Robert Johnson. The BRBC offers the gratitude to Fr. Siluvai Pitchai, the Pro-vicar of cathedral for the venue and sumptuous meal.
